Fall/Winter Enchantment

Come enjoy the beauty and adventure of Bayfield in winter! The Bayfield Inn is here to host you all year round, and there are plenty of activities to keep you warm!

Visit us in February for the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race or the “ice road” Run on the Water to Madeline Island. Get out your vintage tuxedo or prom dress for the Blue Moon Ball. Thrill to the Bayfield Winter Festival or go downhill fast in the many skiing events at Mt. Ashwabay.

Snowmobiling in Bayfield is extremely popular, and when your day on the trail is done, nothing beats relaxing in the Bayfield Inn Sports Bar!

Travel the Ice Road

The Madeline Island ferry runs through January, or until the ice is too thick. Then the windsled takes over, ferrying people across until the ice is solid enough to drive on. The ice road to La Pointe on Madeline Island is the only ice road that appears on official state maps!
